Composed by the Austrian composer, organist and choirmaster Franz Gruber in 1818. The original German lyrics – “Stille Nacht” – are by Joseph Mohr, but Sissel & Odd sing the Norwegian lyrics (not a translation) by Bernhard Severin Ingemann, the title meaning “Merry Christmas”.
